In a letter to parents today, the Mosdos wrote that “the drill that took place today was truly a kiddush Hashem as all parents followed the directive and cooperated with the protocol of the drill it was a true show of ACHDUS.”
“Data was taken in regards to the traffic and school attendance for a 9:00 am start time. We ask your patience for one more day of the drill which will give our officials a clearer picture of the traffic patterns in town.”
According to Police reports, says the Igud, access was very difficult on some main streets in town as expected. “Township official’s alleviated as much traffic as was possible.”
“Based on data that was retrieved from many schools, there was less than a 50% of students in class at 9:30 am. Some parents chose to transport their children earlier while some waited for traffic to ease and therefore many students were not in class until close 10:00 am which caused the classes to be disrupted.”
The letter added, “We strongly urge all parents to leave on time and attempt to have their child in school at 9:00 am. We realize that some parents may want to leave earlier as per their schedule; we therefore will have supervision on school premises from 8:40 am.”
“Wishing all a safe trip tomorrow, and hope that the outcome of the drill will serve us good in the future.” [TLS]
When people use back routes to take the kids, or take their children to school a half hour early or late, that defeats the purpose of a drill. The same thing happens when police officers wave traffic through.
This will all not happen next year, when children HAVE to be in school on time.
So the chachumim who are trying to beat the traffic and the police who will not be stationed at problem intersections next year, you are not doing anyone a favor.
The drill is not valid.
Its amazing to see everyone agree on something (this never happens) …that is not to go on the buses! – This itself is a kiddish hashem
Great. Lets do it all over again. Yawn.
Or perhaps you just love a bit of chaos!
Because after today, patience will have been but a fleeting memory, recorded in the annals of Lakewood history as “The Days We Were Patient” Aleihem Hasholom
Why do I feel like this is a little meah shearim style, and not our derech?
The worst part about this is that there is no being mezarez the kids to be ready on time because they won’t miss the bus…
