PHOTOS: With the closing of Tent City just days away, the remaining residents of the homeless encampmentĀ this morning marched to downtown in protest.
Led by the camp’s founder Minister Steven Brigham, and son, the approximately 15 residents marched from the Cedarbridge encampment to Red Square, and around the municipal building while holding signs and chanting.
At Red Square, Minister Brigham said the attempts by ‘corrupt officials’ to close the camp stamped on their rights.
The Township in the recent months has worked with STEPS and Ocean County officials to provide one year of housing for the residents on the official census list, as earlier reported on TLS. Once those residents were placed, their tents were removed. Other tents which popped up from non-census residents, were also removed by the Township over the past two weeks. [TLS]
Let these people go work like the rest of us. They seem very talented and capable.
Who cares? Soon the squatters will thankfully be gone and we can finally get back our safe, clean, and quiet neighborhoods again. Our children will be able to breath again when the squatters go make their fires and clog the atmosphere with all that stench and smoke somewhere else.. Or better yet, let them accept the real shelter they were offered and move on to better lives. Poor little Brigham will have to find other pawns for his twisted agenda.
How many people died just this winter alone in that unsafe and inhumane camp? 4? I lost track it was so sad. Glad to see them moving along to a better place.
There are only 2 TC residenst in the photo- Alex Libman and Kevin – who used to be a TC resident until he was given housing. Most of the protesters in ALL the photos in the past months are actually outsiders whom the “minister” convinced to come to the protests. Most TC residenst are very glad to leave TC and they hope thye never have to return.
Perfect !! great time to go There and dismantle all the tents! No1 home! they are all on Clifton
I heard the remaining residents NOT on the census are being offered 6 months free rent . Why is fundraising increasing by the management of tent city? Maybe there needs to be an investigation as to where all the domations went to . Maybe the minister needs to find new employment . It is over – give up Minister Steve . The Tent City residents who found housing never want to live in the woods again .
