Taxi Cab Driver Robbed at Gunpoint

crime scene lpd tlsA local taxi cab driver was robbed at gunpoint late last night, Detective Sergeant Greg Staffordsmith says. At approximately 11:40 pm, a local taxi cab driver approached Officer Michael Mooney to report that he had just been robbed a few blocks away.

The victim, a 54 year old Jackson man, stated that he had just picked up two unidentified men in the Wyndham South Townhouse Complex.

Immediately after entering the cab, one of the suspects stated that he needed to retrieve something from inside his home. After exiting the cab, he brandished a handgun, opened the drivers door and demanded all of the victims money. After getting a little over $100, both suspects fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.

The suspects are described as, two black males, one 6’2″ and wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt. The other 5’7″ and wearing sunglasses.
