Authorities, Including K9 Dog Swarm Area Where Suspect Fled from Troopers

suspect searchPHOTO: As first reported on our news alerts (@lakewoodscoop), authorities this evening have swarmed the area where a suspect fled from Troopers, officials confirm to TLS.

At around 9 PM this evening, Troopers reportedly attempted to take a suspect into custody in the area of Birch Street, when he fled from them – possibly in handcuffs.

Multiple Lakewood police officers joined in the search of the suspect, described as a black male, wearing a white shirt and sweatpants. Police believe sneakers located in a nearby backyard in the area may belong to the suspect.

A K9 unit was called in to assist in the search, along with Ocean County Sheriff’s Officers and other New Jersey State Police Troopers.

Police swarmed an approximately 20 block radius for the suspect, but as of 11 PM the suspect was still at large.

It’s unknown what the suspect was initially wanted for.

  1. my backyard is connected to the one he ran in to and escaped and they did not check there so i don’t which 20 blocks the checked.

  2. some of these cops are in terrible shape. I saw them trying to run. huffin and puffin. One guy got so tired so as an excuse to stop running He started screaming at a lady for not slowing down when it was impossible to see them in the pitch black. I myself almost hit the k9 dog.

  3. #3 Maybe you should pay more attention to where your driving…Did you know they ran almost 2 miles in the heat and humidity. Could you do that w/ 25-30 lbs of equipment on you all while dodging inattentive drivers (like you) and looking for a bad guy that could be waiting in hiding? I bet my life you couldn’t. Next time you see one of those out of shape cops why don’t you challenge them to a race, see who wins.

  4. I am sure that out of shape cop that was huffin and puffin had absolutely no reason to stop the important thing he was trying to do to yell at this lady you speak of… oh yea BTW this is what you call Sarcasm

  5. @ holy smokes.
#1. I probably would be able to beat most of these dunkin donuts.
#2. Its not my job to be in shape.
#3 it was nighttime so it wasn’t that hot.
