Child Airlifted to Hospital after Falling from 2nd Story Window

mmc child out of windowA child was airlifted to the hospital this afternoon after falling from a second story window, Detective Lieutenant Steve Allaire confirms to TLS.

The three year old boy was leaning on a window screen to look at a dog outside shortly after 1 PM this afternoon, when the screen gave way, Allaire says. The child fell through the screen and landed on the driveway.

The boy was rushed by a family member to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, from where he was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center. The boy suffered a possible fractured skull, but is in stable condition, Allaire says.

The incident appears to be accidental, Allaire says, and no charges were filed.

  1. They don’t make the screens like they used to. Today they’re no stronger than paper. Most people may not be aware, but children must be trained to not open windows from the bottom.

  2. I bought tension rods and put them on the top part of my window making it impossible to open the window from the bottom. (like a charlie bar by a sliding door)

  3. @concerned : Please don’t make up facts that the child opened the window. You are obviously not a parent since mistakes do happen. The parent could have been in the room when the child fell out, all it takes is one second.

  4. To concerned: that’s disgusting and not true. Disgusting because now is not the time to point fingers. And not true as you obviously don’t have kids or are ocd of you think anyone see’s every second of their kid playing around. This accident could have taken 12 seconds to happen beginning to end.

Nobody watches their kid every second or they would snap. Does my kid have to sit on my lap as I make supper? No, he plays in the other room and I check up on him every few minutes and listen out.

Accidents happen. It’s tragic and my heart is with the parents.

Prayers to the kid for a speedy recovery.

  5. The focus should not be on what happened how it happened the fact of the matter is it happened and instead of praying he’s will be ok yall quick to assume the worst this could have happened to anyone get well lil man is all I’m praying

  6. It is impossible for parents to watch their children every second of every day. However, parents must always be aware of potential danger to their children. Childproofing your home makes life easier. I was at Home Depot and a couple was allowing their small children to roam around the parking lot while they loaded their car. Parking lots are very dangerous for children because you cannot see them behind your car if you are backing out. They also were darting out from between parked cars. Pray for the quick and complete recovery for this child.
