Condolences to Inspection Department Head Mike Saccomanno

candleWe convey our sincerest condolences to the Township’s Inspection Department head Mike Saccomanno upon the passing of his father. Frank Saccomanno battled an illness for four years, and passed away at his home this past week at the age of 81.

Frank, who resided in Toms River, “wouldn’t make a big deal about himself and even his severe illness”, a family member tells TLS. He adds that “during his sickness, Mike’s wife, Tina, spent endless hours caring for him, and ensuring he was receiving the best possible care.”

He was born and raised in Garfield, NJ, and was a proud US Army Veteran. He retired as a design engineer from Transworld in East Rutherford, NJ.

Some of his passions throughout the years included camping and fishing, describes his family. “He was a devoted fan to the NY Giants and NY Yankees. His greatest passion was watching his grandchildren grow up and religiously attending each and every sporting event they played. He was their biggest fan and vice versa. He was an outstanding man with a heart of gold and a true inspiration to his family. A great husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother and friend.”

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sarah, along with sons Michael, Frank, and John. He is survived by an older brother, Joseph Saccomanno. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, the children of Mike, Nino and Nicolina. Nino and Nicolina were honored last year by the Township for giving up their time so their father could serve the residents of Lakewood.

Mike Saccomanno, well-respected throughout the Township Departments and throughout the Lakewood community, has been serving in the Department for 15 years, and as head of the Department for four years.

May G-d bless Frank, and may he rest in peace.

  3. I don’t know if people realize that the There is hardly anybody that has not directly or indirectly benefited from Mikes great personality. From the many years that I have known him I have found Him to be extremely accommodating, fair and always very professional. Just a great guy!!!!

  4. Mike – we grieve with you on your terrible loss – Your father was obviously a role model to his family, and likely to the people he met, May his spirit live on in the wonderful family who carry on his ways.
