PHOTOS: Over 100 Take Part in ‘Miles for Matlosz’

P1120516PHOTOS: Despite the extreme temperatures, over one hundred runners took part yesterday in the annual Miles for Matlosz fundraiser at Lake Carasaljo.

The event, which is coordinated by the PBA Local 71 and raises funds for the Officer Benefit Fund, memorializes the fallen Lakewood Police Officers.

The event offered a ‘Fun Run’ (a short run) as well as a 5 mile run. The 5 mile run started at North Lake and 2nd Street, and continued around Lake Carasaljo.

The Lakewood Fire Department and EMS were on hand at the event. The event was also attended by Mayor Menashe Miller.

  1. This must’ve a very nice event. I wished it had been publicized more, prior to it taking place. Chris was a hero who made it safer for all of us by taking “Sav” off the streets.

  2. The only Lakewood Officers there were the police cadets, i did not see any of his fellow officers running but yet toms River PBA had a better showing than our own officers who are part of the PBA.. Nice going guys. I guess you also thought it was cancelled as part of the fireworks celebration
