Poll: Should NJ Drivers be Exempt from Tickets from Out-of-state Traffic Cameras?

Last week, Asemblyman Declan O’Scanlon proposed a bill which would exempt New Jersey drivers from being ticketed by out-of-state traffic cameras.

What do you think of the bill?

  1. Being a NJ driver this bill would only benefit me but I still think its wrong. When driving in another state you just have to go by their rules. If you don’t like them, just stay away. Since its legal in NJ to make a right on red should all NJ drivers be allowed to do that in NY City too? The list can be endless…

  2. To ‘NJDriver’ and others,

This question is not in context. This is NOT about exempting NJ drivers from all out-of-state driving laws. The bill in question is about protecting NJ drivers from a camera system with a 60% error margin. Yes, I’d like to be protected from that.

  3. You know how you get around that 60% inaccuracy, drive 100% safely. Amber lights actually mean “Stop if and when it is safe to stop” not “lets speed up to get through the intersection before it turns red” because that’s when collisions happen. Red lights mean “STOP! No matter what”. So yes that means you can get a ticket even if you think the light was “yellow” when you went through it….If you follow the rules those camera systems could be 99% inaccurate you still wont get a ticket. The average duration of a red stop light is 30 seconds. You are not THAT important that 30 seconds will make or break you. Stop. Care about the life of others. Wait 30 seconds. Now proceed with your life. Thank you
