Sirens Scare off Homeless Pair Sleeping near Lakewood School; Police Vigilant

mattress tentSirens which sounded near a local School this morning scared off a man and a woman who apparently decided to sleep there for the night, police confirm TLS.

Police received a call about 8 AM from the Oak Street School security who reported a that a man and woman were apparently sleeping near school trailers were seen running into the forest when sirens were heard in the area.

Police responded but were unable to locate the pair.

At about 2:30 AM, former Tent City resident Alex Libman was spotted sleeping with his pillow in Town Square. When approached by a local EMT, he responded, “I know it’s illegal but I’m doing it anyway,” the EMT told TLS. Libman, one of the last to vacate the homeless camp, was dragged out and arrested after refusing shelter, as earlier reported on TLS.

With the dismantling of Tent City, a couple of tents and makeshift shelters were spotted around Lakewood, but were immediately dismantled.

“We’re being vigilant, we won’t allow for another Tent City to pop up,” police said.

  1. AnoniyMiss – Howell has numerous tent cities ? Really ? Where ? Can u tell me the location of one ? Just one? One ! I’ll wait patiently.

  2. That’s wonderful! So there IS somewhere for them to camp out if they have an aversion to housing! Not here in Lakewood, folks. Try Howell or Toms River…..

  3. Jog A Thon- Thanks for being patient. The biggest is off Maxim Southard road. I will not give you the exact location because they are harassed and even beaten up. The others are more transient and do not stay in one place for very long.

  4. I’m still not arrested for my “illegal camping” here at the Carasaljo amphitheater… What am I, chopped liver?! So much for “vigilance”…
