Woman Robbed after being Asked for Directions

lpd tlsPolice are looking for two suspects who allegedly robbed a woman today after asking her for directions, Detective Lieutenant Steve Allaire tells TLS.

The woman was walking in the area of Squankum Road at about 1 PM this afternoon when a vehicle carrying two occupants pulled up alongside her, Allaire says.

After stating the woman had “a nice phone,” the suspect, a woman sitting in the passenger’s seat, began asking her for directions. At that moment, the suspect grabbed the woman by her waist and demanded her phone and cash, Allaire says.

“You better cooperate,” the male driver told the victim, Allaire says.

The victim complied, and handed over $300 in cash, along with her iPhone. The suspects then fled on Squankum Road towards Howell, says Allaire.

The suspects are described as a skinny black female wearing a bandana, and an older clean-shaven white male. The vehicle was described as a newer black sedan.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Leroy Marshal, at 732-363-0200, extension 5345.

  1. i think its time the township strted installing cameras in lakewood. If you want to allow tens of thousands of questionable people to move in then you should at least provide some surveillance. If a women can’t walk in broad daylight on squankum without being robbed then that is very sad

  2. 10000% agree with @menashe

its becoming very easy to rob people.

Give me your money. Thats all must be said to be fooled.

    oh well.

its the 9 days (i hope i didnt say that)

    • Moms, I have a little secret for you, first of all alot of mothers don’t have smart phones due to the fact that they don’t want their kids on the internet, 2nd, these apps can be a bit confusing

  3. That is not a lot of money. It’s at the least a grocery shabos shopping for many pple. I believe that the phone should be trackaable but when powered on…

  4. What difference does it make how much money was stolen? The fact remains that a woman was robbed in broad daylight. I’m sure she was traumatized by the incident. Where’s your compassion?
Btw, I’m sure you’d be singing a different tune if the victim was your wife or your sister or your mother or your daughter.

  5. # 1 The statement sounds racist to me. What nationality are these tens of thousands of people you speak of????? Lakewood has pretty diverse population. But the majority of the residents of this town are Jewish or Mexican. Care to explain exactly what group you’re talking about?????

  6. To cool masmid:
In what area are you a masmid? Learning Torah with the proper intention will cause many good things. One of them is that it will help you to become a fine gentleman. I can’t possibly imagine that a true Masmid would post such a comment.
