shoot 5UPDATED: [VIDEO & PHOTOS] A person has been shot in Lakewood moments ago, as first reported on our News Alerts (@lakewoodscoop).

The shooting occurred around 2:30 PM this afternoon in Coventry Square.

A neighbor tells TLS he heard five shots ring out, but thought it was firecrackers, until he came outside and saw people running.

The victim, sources tell TLS, suffered two-three gunshot wounds to his legs and waist area, and appears to be in stable condition.

As officers were responding to the call, dispatch received a call from a women who advised she was driving the 22 year old gunshot victim to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus. Several Officers diverted too meet them

Authorities are looking for a white Infinity with plates Y50-DXC in connection with the shooting. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 25 yrs old, 5’06”, approximately 170lbs, medium length dread locks, and last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants and white sneakers. He was last seen traveling East on Kennedy Boulevard.

Police are currently questioning a person of interest, sources told TLS.

Lakewood’s Detective Bureau and CSI are investigating the incident.

  1. Was at the location in Coventry right after the shooting. Its an active scene with a large police presence. Theyre looking for witnesses.

  7. I also heard them but I though was by where I live in Whindham Place because this morning I saw someone doing firecrack when I went out with my son to drop the trash. So sad when we moved to this area about 8 years ago we liked because was quite. But now drugs and burglaries.

  11. When seconds count, the police are only minutes away. Not their fault though. Protecting individual citizens is NOT their job anyway, just ask the Supreme Court. I am very glad for the presence of LPD, truly, yet if we all could utilize our G-d given rights of self defense there would be less lawlessness and we could be more proactive as partners with LE.

  14. Do you know what transpired for this person to do this? I second not. The victim is just as responsible for their actions as the person who did this. When you do wrong to people, it will come back..
