Hundreds More ‘Click-it & Lick it’ Coupons Printed – Kids Get Free Slush at J2 Pizza

click it 2TLS gave hundreds more ‘Click-it & Lick it’ coupons to Police Chief Rob Lawson for distribution to children found wearing their helmets. These coupons entitle children to a free slush at J2 Pizza, located at 1700 Madison Avenue, in the Shoprite Plaza.

The program, founded and funded by TLS, is intended to promote helmet-wearing, as well as to give children an increased level of comfort and confidence to interact with police for when the need arises.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PARENTS: This program is specifically being done in conjunction with the Lakewood Police Department for security and safety reasons. Cards will ONLY be given out by patrol officers in a MARKED police car. No private citizens whatsoever will be giving out these cards. Children should be told never to approach a stranger’s vehicle – even if he or she claims to be from the Law Enforcement community. If you see someone attempting to give a child the ice cream card, please report it to the LPD & TLS immediately.

Enjoy, and be sure to send us your ‘Click-it & Lick It’ pictures to!

Do they only go to certain areas? I have yet to see them giving out certificates in my neighborhood, (not this year or last year).

  • wow says:

They only go to places that they have title 39 rights at.

Why is our town worried about children wearing bicycle helmets? They should be more worried about the children sitting in their seats on the school bus, especially when it seems like our buses drive like they are NASCAR race car drivers. For the safety of our children, make a new program called “Sit it and lick it”

    What does that mean?

Perhaps parents should be the ones to enforce helmet wearing. Every time TLS posts about this program people comment that their kids are upset that they never receive coupons. I fear that this program, although well-intentioned, encourages helmet wearing “lo lishma”-aka for the wrong reasons- & if kids don’t receive rewards they’ll stop wearing the helmets. Sadly, there are kids hit by cars every year in Lakewood. A helmet is not a luxury, nor is it a battle parents can choose not to fight. My kids wear helmets for their safety, not because they expect coupons. The rule is very simple: if you don’t wear your helmet, I take away your bike.

  • To # 6 says:

I don’t either allow my kids to ride their bikes if they are not wearing helmets. They don’t wear them just to receive a coupon; however it is frustrating when it seems like the coupons are only given out in certain areas of town…
