PHOTOS: Fifteen youths have joined the ranks of the Lakewood Police Department’s youth division after graduating from the Ocean County Police Youth Academy on Friday.
The youths received a vigorous two-week training under the directive of Lakewood Police Instructors Alex Guzman, Jerome Cohen, Pete La’rosa and Kenneth Burdge.
The Summer program, founded seven years ago, teaches the children about real police work while getting a hands on experience with various different Law Enforcement agencies and activities.
Activities included a visit to the Ocean County Jail, a visit to CSI, fingerprinting and more.
On Friday, family members of the graduates watched as the students received their graduating certificates, perhaps giving them the courage and eagerness to one day serve the town as a Law Enforcement Officer.
