PHOTOS: An investigation is underway this evening after a person’s body was found inside a vacant home in Lakewood, police confirm to TLS.

Police received a call shortly before 9 PM for the reports of a body found inside a Squankum Road home, and upon arrival located a badly decomposed body, sources say.

The race or gender of the body was not immediately available.

Lakewood’s Detectives Bureau, CSI and the Medical Examiners office were summoned to the scene.

“A canvas of the neighborhood revealed that there were a few squatters seen in the area,” the Prosecutor’s Office said Friday morning. “Most recently, the deceased was observed in the last 2 weeks at the residence. The residence was secured pending the outcome of the autopsy.”
