PHOTOS: LPD Sergeant Kenny Work Retires after 29 Years of Service

sgt workPHOTOS: A Walkout ceremony was held on Friday for Lakewood Police Sergeant Kenny Work who retired after 29 years of service with the Lakewood Police Department.

Kenny Work was hired on February 17, 1986, together with his brother Sergeant Frank Work, who heads the Traffic & Safety division of the LPD.

Kenny served for several years as a patrolman before switching to an administrative position, and then back to patrol as a Sergeant.

Family and friends gathered at the Walkout ceremony on at Police Headquarters, where fellow colleagues honored him with an honorable discharge plaque before he was escorted from the building amidst flashing lights and blaring sirens.

Thank you Sgt. Work for your dedicated service to the community!

  1. He is a great guy. I once asked him why his bro Frank is so much more well-known than him. He just said he’s happy just doing his thing in a quiet way. Amazing, in this day and age a guy shunning the spotlight. Good Luck, Kenny. One of the good guys.

  2. Gabi, I think that it might have to do with the State’s pension plan. The officers want to retire with their full pension than rather the possibility of having cut when they are still active and be stuck with less of a pension.
