PHOTO: Hundreds of Cheder school children said goodbye today to the historic 9th street Cheder building for the last time.
The children, from grades two to four, were the last of the Cheder children to make the move to the new massive Vasser Avenue campus which is now home to all the Cheder children.
In celebration if the move, the hundreds of children gathered today outside the building and together with the staff danced and sang before saying goodbye to the original Cheder building.

Very nice. What they plan on doing with old building?
wow is Lakewood gonna let that building now be destroyed? or boy does that building have almost a century of Lakewood history.
What’s with the אברכים מנין?? Are they staying?
I remember the cheder in the Legion building and the yellow building that stood on the gravel lot.THE ORGINAL CHEDER
That is not the origin building i went to school in the legion
This is not the original building before there it was in the legion building by the bmg campus on 6th st I myself were in the legion till second grade
Can we get some pictures of the event?
Hatzlacha Rabbah with the move!
30 years of Torah satuated in those walls. How precious are those walls. They will definitely go to Eretz Yisroel with Moshiach B’korov!!

their probably going to make it into a dorm. bmg owns the building.
Wow I’m gonna miss that place, my childhood memories
Most prob being demolished and made into dorm.
(Avreichim minyan is part of beis Shalom not the cheder).
I meant Alumni
Hi fellow old-timers! 🙂 I attended Cheder in the Legion biulding too, way back when the upstairs was still dorm rooms and the boys and girls shared the building! later on the girls moved across the driveway to the Sharkey building.
The Yeshiva owns the Irvington building, I assume they will fix it up and use it as a dorm but after 30 years of Cheder kids it’s going to need a lot of work 🙂
To former lkwd kid. I was in 4th grade when we moved in to the 9th street building. It needed a lot work the day we moved in. It is not much worse if not better today.
There is a major problem with the structure. Needs to be demolished
Really: I’m a bit older, we were still in the Legion when I graduated. In fact, I was in the Cheder even before the legion, for kindergarten we were in the old 7th and Forest Bais Medrash building, just before they demolished it.
wow now when we pick up the children there wont be a problem on clifton ave with all the buses at one time it was a mess we were all the way down pass 11th st good luck boys in the new school
