We regret to inform you of the Petirah of Harav Hagaon Reb Yaakov Bistritz Zatzal, the Rosh Yeshivah of Yeshivah Gedolah Mercaz Hatorah of Montreal who was Nifter over Shabbos
following a lengthy illness. He was approximately 60 years old.
The Rosh Yeshivah took over after the previous Roshei Yeshivah Harav Altusky and Harav Mottel Weinberg Zatzal, and left behind thousands of Talmidim in Lakewood and worldwide. Prior to becoming Rosh Yeshivah, Rav Bistritz served as a Rebbe in the Mesivta, as well as a member of Kollel Keser Torah of Montreal.
He is survived by his wife, and many children and grandchildren.
The Levaya will be taking place tonight in Montreal, and at 1 PM on Sunday at Khal Ahavas Torah, 2 Ribier Court, Monsey, NY.
UPDATE: The Levaya in Eretz Yisroel will be taking place at approximately 2 PM in the Ponevezh Chelka in Bnei Brak.
