Lakewood Homeowners, Police Chase Down High School Teen Burglar they Came Home to

lpd tlsUPDATED: Lakewood homeowners came home yesterday to find a young burglar inside their home, and gave chase, sources tell TLS.

At approximately 1:45 p.m., Officers Kristie Buble and Rodney Youmans were dispatched to a Malibu Drive home after receiving a report of a Burglary in progress.

“The victim advised that while investigating a strange noise in his home, he came face to face with a burglar,” Detectove Sergeant Greg Staffordsmith says. “The home owner grabbed a hold of him to prevent him from fleeing.”

After a brief struggle, the suspect broke free and ran from the home carrying a backpack full of items he had taken prior to the confrontation.

The victim gave chase but lost site of him after he scaled the fence of a Rockaway Drive home.

“Responding Officers flooded the area and began the search. The suspect, identified as a 15 year-old juvenile male from Lakewood was captured after trying to scale another fence in an attempt to flee the area.”

He was arrested without further incident by Officers Rodney Youmans and Peter LaRosa.

The juvenile was transported to headquarters where he was ultimately charged with Robbery, Burglary, Theft and Possession of Burglary Tools.

He was subsequently transported to the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center.

  1. why do all of your headlines need to say Lakewood High School student- everyone at that age is a student somewhere- it should say someone’s unsupervised child with no moral upbringing!! I am tired of the school always receiving the headline- they are someone’s children- why not give their parents the glory!! The teachers do their best to teach them but they don’t go home with them and live with them. But the blame where it belongs in the home!!

  2. If he wuz really a student he would be in school. Back in day we had troont offnicers. They seen a kid on da street and drove him to sit in da deen’s office all day den his fatha came got him and ba da boom.

  3. My nephew’s house in Rockaway dr. got robbed a couple weeks ago while they were at work, probably by this suspect, my nephew got the location of the thieves using find my iPhone app, and police told they couldn’t do anything about it.

  4. Dear Fed Up, Not only does the headline not say what you claim the entire story doesn’t once mention Lakewood High School, so take a deep breath and stop being fed up.

  5. uhmm! bruh just cause they were 15 doesn’t necessarily mean they are from Lakewood High School ! they could just be living here but go to a different school . get your facts straight

  6. It said “high School teen”. Does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what is ment here. I knew exactly what it ment and I know why.

  7. So, who is going to jump to the defense of this good, misunderstood kid? I’m sure if you knew him you would know the truth, but your all just a bunch of haters…

  8. Umm.. And we just gave THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS to buy state of the art air conditioning systems so these juvenile delinquents can enjoy their school day in luxury!?? Apparently, the student feels that if the administration can commit highway robbery, then he shouldn’t have to behave any differently either..

  9. 1) half of you seem as though the school system seriously failed you – learn how to spell before making a fool out of yourselves again.

    2) this 15 year old kid, from knowing him – isn’t a bad kid at all, he’s misguided by the people he associates with and the area he is from.

    3) those of you accusing the parents of wrongdoing in this, you should be ashamed because they have 5 other children who are good kids – one daughter of which I am dating. with that said, don’t make an assumption on a matter in which you have no knowledge of because you just seem moronic and judgmental.

    4) he’s a troubled teen, we’ve all known them, been them, etc. – don’t be so quick to assume he’s an overall bad kid.

  10. @forbes,
I’m sure the rest of the family is good (good luck with your girl).
However, Bad is Bad let’s face it!
Imagine one day when you have kids and they are home alone, and some older guy breaks into the house……. Imagine the trauma, the fear (for anyone).. The stolen goods.
And as a family, if you know he is doing such things and you can’t stop him, you should report it.

  11. Forbes, you are biased here. I actually taught this particular delinquent during the time he was in school (and not out ransacking houses), so I’m a bit more objective. The blame belongs squarely on the shoulders if his parents. Bed neighborhood? Maybe. Bad school? Definitely. Indifferent parents? Certainly.
