UPDATED: Lakewood Bus Driver Goes into Cardiac Arrest Moments before Afternoon Run

bus tlsJUST IN: A Lakewood bus driver died this afternoon after going into Cardiac Arrest just as his bus was being loaded with children, sources confirm to TLS.

The bus driver, approximately 45 years of age, parked his bus in front of a Lakewood school to pick up his afternoon route, when he went inside the school to use the restroom, sources say.

When the driver failed to return to his loaded bus, and failed to answer multiple calls to his cell phone, school officials entered the bathroom where he was found unconscious, sources told TLS.

EMS and Hatzolah Paramedics rushed to the scene and began performing CPR on the man. He was transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in critical condition, and died a short time later, sources confirm.

“He was a wonderful person and a family man,” a colleague of his told TLS. “He always cared about the children, and was a warm driver. He’ll really be missed.”

  1. Wow! That is very sad. My son told me that something must have happened near bais tova.. there were a lot of police, ems, and emergency vehicles that caused some traffic.. that is a small inconvenience compared to the terrible catastrophe that occurred. May his family find comfort.
