VIDEO: Authorities this evening are investigating a shooting in Lakewood that left one person injured, TLS has learned.
As first reported on our News Alerts (@LakewoodScoop) the shooting occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday evening on Dewey Avenue.
A neighbor tells TLS he heard two gunshots ring out near his home. At least one of those shots struck the victim in the abdomen, officials say.
Police swarmed the area and reportedly found the victim after locating a blood trail on the street.
“Further investigation conducted by Detectives Eric Cicerello and Oscar Valmon determined that the victim was walking with another unidentified man when they were approached by two unidentified black males who were both wearing dark clothing,” said Detective Greg Staffordsmith. “One of the males described only as approximatly 6’0″ -6’2″ tall with a medium build fired one shot before fleeing the area.”
The victim was transported by MONOC to Jersey Shore Medical University Center.
Lakewood’s Detective Bureau and CSI are investigating.
