Township Committeeman-Elect Mike D’Elia to Vacate Fire Commissioner Seat; Board Seeks Replacement

mike deliaTownship Committeeman-elect Mike D’Elia will be leaving the Board of Fire Commissioners, shortly before taking the oath of office for the Lakewood Township Committee.

D’Elia, who served as a Commissioner for many years, and in the Fire Department for approximately 50 years, won the Township seat along with Democratic candidate Ray Coles, unseating Republican incumbent Steven Langert.

The Committeeman-elect will leave the position next month, says Fire Commissioner Larry Loigman. D’Elia would be unable to hold onto both positions according to law.

The Board will now work to fill the vacant seat.

“We are requesting that anyone who might wish to be considered for the vacant position submit a letter of interest to the Board office, 316 River Avenue, no later than December 1, so that we can review possible replacements at the December meeting,” Loigman told TLS.
