Former Tent City Resident Arrested after Pitching Tent in Red Square

libman arrest red squareA former Tent City resident was arrested in Lakewood’s Red Square last night after pitching a tent, Detective Sergeant Greg Staffordsmith confirms to TLS.

Police responded to the Square around midnight where they found Alex Libman, and his belongings, in a pitched tent in the center of the Square.

After failing to adhere to officers’ requests to vacate the Township premises, he was taken into custody.

He was transported to Ocean County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $1,500 bail, Staffordsmith says.

It’s the not the first time Libman was arrested for such activity. The former Tent City resident and vocal advocate was arrested multiple times for similar activities, including the last time he was dragged out of Tent City – the way he intended to leave the homeless camp.

  1. Can’t someone get this man the psychiatric help he really needs? He was offered housing BUT refused, and he has no excuse for pitching the tent in the middle of the square. I think that minister Steve has put him up to this. If he really wanted to live outside he could go anywhere in the pines . Why does it have to be in Lakewood ? Always Lakewood, because that minister is putting him up to it .
