PHOTO: Vehicle Parked on Tracks Holds Up Train

car parked on tracksThe next time you’re looking for parking in the area of the tracks, it’s probably best not to park on them.

The attached photo shows a train pulling through Lakewood on Thursday evening, and being prompted to come to a complete stop due to a vehicle partially parkedĀ on the tracks.

“It was close to 11 pm, it was honking for five minutes straight and must have woken up the whole neighborhood near foodex,” a neighbor says. “Besides holding up the train, he is probably responsible for waking everyone up at that hour.”

  1. Doesn’t matter if it’s a current picture because like no 1 said it happens almost every Thursday. Yup some people are not too smart that’s all

  2. I hope this person realizes that my little kids wake up in a panic from the train passing by and then again on its return trip. I have to calm them down and wait for the “beeping” to stop so that they will go back to sleep. This continuous “beeping” is affecting others! Does anyone know how we can make changes to this system?

  3. I don’t think the person who left the car there is stupid. He/she is just typical of our times: no one thinking about the impact of their actions on others. In other words, lack of consideration. We see it all the time with the double parking; parking in handicapped spot (“just for a minute”); stopping in the middle of the street to shmuz or pick someone else; no turn signals; texting and driving; yapping and driving without hands free device; blocking driveways; parking too close to intersections; awful parking jobs in parking lots or streetside; stopping way past the stop sign, halfway into the intersection; starting to pull out of a driveway with another car coming; inching the car into the intersection so the approaching driver can’t be sure you’re not going to pull out; k-turns that block the street with cars coming in either direction;

    Yeah, and this is only problems with driving and lack of consideration. How about cell phone behavior? Don’t get me started.

  4. Waiting for change: there is no one to contact… It is federal law that every train going through a crossing must blow the horn 4 times (2 long/ 1 short/ 1 long). This is true of both passenger and freight, and I doubt it will change any time soon, no matter how many petitions are signed. It is a safety issue.
