The Christie Administration has directed the NJ Office of Emergency Management (NJOEM) to monitor a significant and severe coastal winter storm expected to impact New Jersey and the tri-state region tomorrow and into Tuesday. National Weather Service forecasters have characterized the event to be “crippling and potentially historic.” Up to two feet of snow is forecasted for the western side of the State with nearly three feet forecasted for the coastal counties and Northeast areas of the State. Expected high winds have resulted in a Blizzard Warning for counties on the eastern side of the State.
Governor Chris Christie advised New Jersey residents to maintain a high level of situational awareness regarding the weather conditions. “I urge all New Jersey residents to monitor the National Weather Service forecasts. This is a serious and significant weather event which will create extremely hazardous conditions. Travel will be dangerous and it is not advised.”
In addition to extremely hazardous travel conditions, there is the potential for power outages. The storm will be followed a period of sub-zero wind chills.
Colonel Rick Fuentes, State Police Superintendent and Director of the NJ Office of Emergency Management urged New Jersey residents to stay connected to their county and local emergency management offices. A list of resources is found below. “We’re also asking New Jersey residents to stay in touch with older adult relatives or family and friends who are isolated. Please check on them during this time. Natural disasters and isolation often lead to very difficult outcomes.”
On the Web – Use credible websites to get information about natural hazards and emergency preparedness. The NJOEM works closely with the National Weather Service regarding storm predictions and forecasts. The NJOEM website contains links to the County OEM social media pages and alerting systems.

so much for 3 feet. some of the latest computer models are calling for only around 6 inches or so.
That’s 6″ for tonight’s clipper storm. the blizzard is expected tomorrow eve with 24″+ for ocean county. check out the reliable european weather models
Ad of now the storm turn north unexpectedly early. We are currently looking at 6-7 inches

As I would not even want to take my car out, and be safe, I was wondering the following;
Instead of Chaveirim being busy digging out cars from driveways or streets, Provide mass transit bussing! We will then all be able to go to Yeshiva, Satmer, shopping, Simchos, etc…
A generator Gemach network for those who need it must be mobilized.
Transportation for Chasunas etc…, for the Balei Simcho & their guests.
Snow blower service by Township, & or service , respectively, for sidewalks – Streets to be constantly salted – before it sticks & steadly plowed as needed
Surely emergency vehicles, & thoose with special needs will be accomadated better. May Hashem wach over us, just as it is in his hands that this storm go out to the sea

Looks like they are back to predicting a big snowstorm- maybe not 30 inches but way more than 6.
Just a suggestion, because of the weather, it may be a good idea to check with baalei simcha if any events/simchos tonight are cancelled before they head out in this treacherous weather. Some simchos have been cancelled…
