plowing 1-27-15PHOTOS: So where the did the 18 plus inches of snow go? This morning the National Weather Service said “much of Eastern Pennsylvania and Parts of New Jersey were spared the high snowfall amounts.”

The numbers until late last night were still showing legitimate snowfall for the area, but that shifted during the night.

“A deep coastal storm offshore of New Jersey has passed further East than earlier forecasted,” says the Service. However, a good deal of blowing and drifting of earlier snow is expected today. Conditions are expected to improve this afternoon.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 3 PM Tuesday.

New total snow accumulations stand at 4 to 8 inches.

Many Lakewood schools are closed today. Bais Faiga and the Cheder – the two largest schools – are closed. Check with your school.

“New Jerseyans should continue to stay off the roads whenever possible throughout the day as transportation and public safety officials continue their work to clear the roadways from the snowfall,” the NJSP said. “New Jerseyans should abide by all traffic laws and be extremely cautious if they must travel today.”

  1. Could someone explain to me why people get so upset when there are schools closed. The closures are usually for safety reasons. A day every now and then in winter isn’t going to destroy education.

  2. People only get upset when schools are closed when we didn’t really get the snow that was predicted. When the parents still have to go to work and their kids are home it becomes a problem. For my part, I feel bad we didn’t get the snow that was predicted and get to stay home longer. But that’s because I don’t have a work conflict.

  3. Serious question… Why is Lakwood the only town that never has a delayed opening? All surrounding schools do & I want to know why Lakewood does not?

  4. I can answer your question, it is because the Private Schools don’t want delayed openings. Lakewood used to use delayed openings but this was before others made the decisions for public schools.
