TONIGHT: Fire Commissioner Elections; Polls Close at 10 PM

elections voting booths town hallThe Fire Commissioner elections are taking place now. Voting for all districts will take place at the municipal building, 231 3rd Street, between Lexington and Clifton Avenues. Polls close at 10 PM.

Five people have filed to run in this year’s Fire Commissioner elections, seeking to fill two 3-year term seats, and one one-year term seat.

Incumbent Juan Ortiz, incumbent Larry Loigman, firefighter Brice Alemany and firefighter David Mizrahi are running to fill the seats of Ortiz and Loigman, who are up for reelection. Both are three-year term seats.

Running for Mike D’Elia’s seat is firefighter Meir Cohen, who would serve for one year – the remainder of D’Elia’s term.

  1. they should have postponed vote. too dangerous to drive to night and roads once again were not touched- no salt- no plow. must be a conspiracy to keep people from voting.

  2. It isn’t easy to change an election , first it is held state wide, people are hired, books are printed, location picked . There is a lot that goes into an election. People can always vote absentee. Then you don’t have to worry about the weather. Thank you , too all that came out to vote!
