BEWARE: Alleged ‘Ex-Marine’ Continues to Scam Lakewood Residents

scam alertA man claiming to be an ex-marine is allegedly continuing to scam Lakewood residents out of cash.

A resident reports that he was exiting his car in the area of 6th Street when an alleged “ex-marine” approached him that his car was in the shop near Lakewood and he was stranded in Lakewood. He asked him for $50.00 for a cab ride home. Obliging, the resident gave him the money and then drove him ex-marine to 5th and Clifton.

“He promised to repay on Monday and left his phone number,” the resident reported. On Monday, the resident called the number and the alleged ex-marine’s wife answered the phone. He hasn’t heard from the ex-marine nor his wife since.

The man is described as a white male with a mustache around 55-65 years old age range.

Based on the description of the man and the methods used to scam people, it appears it’s the same male we reported about several months ago.
