Diet Coach Ezi Levi: This Purim….”I didn’t blow it”

ezi leviAbout two months ago we started a support group. Those who attend have achieved their weight loss goals, or are very close to achieving their weight loss goals.

All are looking for some chizuk to maintain their weight and not gain the weight back. We meet every two weeks, and at the meeting, I present a challenge to the group for the upcoming weeks. This week’s challenge, of course, is Purim. My challenge to them, and everyone else who wishes to try, is to be able to say after Purim “I didn’t blow it” meaning, “I may have not been perfect, but I didn’t completely lose control either”.

So what’s the best plan of action to make this happen?

MAKE SURE TO EAT

huh?!

Seriously, Purim day tends to be so hectic. There is so much junk food lying around. We get so busy that we don’t eat anything until we are starving, and then we binge on all sorts of junk. We then start the process all over again and by the time the Seuda comes around, we haven’t eaten a normal thing all day.

So here are some guidelines to follow if you would like to survive this challenge.

Eat breakfast

Make sure to eat early in the day, and take 10-15 minutes to eat a normal and filling breakfast

(even if you never eat breakfast).

Eat lunch/snack

Sometime in the early to midafternoon, take the time to sit down for a few minutes and eat something normal. Remember, the healthier the better, but even if it is not so healthy, make the best choice possible. And make sure to drink water as well.

Follow this format and I believe that you will be able to look back after Purim and truly say “I didn’t blow it”!

Please feel free to e mail me and let me know how you did!

Wishing you and your family Ah Freilichen Purim!

SUCCESS STORY:

I want to really give a big round of applause to my friend Gershon, who is part of our group and has really “picked it up” over the last few weeks. He had worked hard to lose a lot of weight and was struggling to maintain, but since we started the group he has really made great strides especially with his exercise program. Way to go G!

  1. Ezi, all well said. I would like to say I did it rather than I didn’t blow it. Have a normal routine day food and exercise etc., watch out for all the coaches trying to get you- a little taste, it won’t hurt this one time, indulge, you only live once! Stay from those and other comments. Set your goals and do it and still have a great time.
