LPD: Fire at Georgian Court University Suspicious

georgian court university entrance tlsAuthorities are investigating what they say is a suspicious fire at Georgian Court University, Detective Sergeant Greg Staffordsmtih says.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. yesterday, Officer Andrew Meyer was dispatched to Georgian Court University for a fire alarm sounding at the Maria Hall dormitory.

“Responding firefighters discovered that a fire had broken out right outside of one of the dormitory doors, but was extinguished prior to the arrival of emergency personnel,’ says Staffordsmith. No one was injured.

“At this time the fire is believed to be suspicious,” says Staffordsmith.

Investigators from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Lakewood Police Department are investigating.
