PHOTOS: A ‘Code Red’ was issued at the Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch this afternoon after an odor of smoke was discovered inside the hospital, according to reports from people on scene.

The hospital was not evacuated, but nobody but a portion of the Center was on lockdown and nobody was allowed inside while the odor was investigated.

The alert was lifted a short time later, and the cause is under investigation.
