Assemblyman Kean Proposes Secure Schools for All Children Act; Many Lakewood Residents feel District has been Short-changed

senator sean kean lkwd tlsHow much would you pay to make sure children are safe in school? Assemblymen Sean T. Kean (District 30) is sponsoring “Secure Schools for All Children Act” (A-4288), a bill that provides $25.00 per pupil to help ensure security measures for nonpublic school children.

Public school students already receive about $75.00 per pupil for security aid, with an additional amount for the number of low income students enrolled in school.

Because of recent national incidents, all schools have been focusing on increased prevention and preparedness. The money allocated for The Secure Schools for All Children Act would be used to provide security services, equipment, and technology to help ensure a safe and secure school environment for nonpublic school children.

Assemblyman Kean feels it is equally important that nonpublic schools also receive funding to provide for student safety and security measures.

“With new school security procedures and advances in technology, we can provide increased protection that includes all our children.”

Because Lakewood is not classified as an Abbott school district, Lakewood does not receive as much funding as the Abbotts. Many Lakewood residents feel the school district has been short-changed in terms of education funding.

  1. Why is this only for the Hassidic schools, as always? Does anyone see something wrong with this picture. Are Jewish children more valuable than other cultures children? According to this, apparently they are.

  2. Yes, it’s the same thing. Assemblyman Gary “introduced” (A-4288) the “Secure Schools for All Children Act,” and Assemblyman Kean is “sponsoring” it.

  3. none, the article says that public schools already get $75 per kid. Is a proposal that Jewish kids get 1/3 of what everyone else gets for their own safety FAVORITISM to Jews

  4. @none: It’s time too shoo some of the birds off your antenna. If you bothered to read the bill before you shot your mouth off you would know that your warped imagination has nothing in common with reality. This bill is for ALL private schools. At you picked an appropriate name, none, because that’s what’s between your ears.

And no, I’m not Hasidic. I’m not even Jewish. (moderated).
