Suspension of Twp Employee following Alleged Assault Overturned by Judge

dpw_headquarters_tlsA Department of Public Works employee fired last year following an altercation will be getting his job back following a decision by a judge, TLS has learned.

The suspension stemmed from altercation last April, when a heated argument resulted in one of the parties allegedly punching the other, as reported on TLS at the time. The fight left one employee suspended and the other disciplined.

Last week, the judge overturned the decision of the DPW, and ordered the suspension be reduced to a 30-day suspension, officials say.

In addition to being reinstated, the judge ruled that the employee would need to receive back pay for the months suspended.

  1. To Oscarj, get all your facts first before start assuming things. There’s a lot of things involved in this case that the outside people don’t know about it.

  2. This supervisor that was fired never should have. He was harassed by the other employee/supervisor and no one cared. He complained to the township as well as his bosses to no avail.

It will be a pleasure working with him once he returns.

  3. Curious to know why the article does not name the individuals, the Judge, the court or any other useful information that would help readers understand the facts and the Judge’s reasoning for the decision. It is a matter of public interest to know why an employee of the taxpayers was discharged and why he was reinstated, especially when the matter has now cost the taxpayers a lot of money for lawyers and the back pay that now has to be paid based on what looks to have been an illegal firing.
