  1. With the warmer weather coming we urge all parents to SUPERVISE their children for their own safety. Stop blaming the drivers for children being where they’re not supposed to be.

  2. I am so, so, so relieved to hear that this young child did not suffer from major injuries…please let’s take upon ourselves to be more vigilant when driving and be on the look out for the little ones… but also please make sure you and your children are wearing properly fitting helmets when riding bikes, scooters, rollerblades etc.- wearing a helmet correctly can make a big difference in the outcome of any fall/accident. While this story does not mention helmet use at all, it is a worthwhile opportunity to mention its importance!

    • Helmet or no helmet, the parent should be outside with their child or children. Nthing is that important that you cannot be outside with your children.

  3. People must watch their children in parking lots and driveways very carefully. People have to be able to enter and exit without having to be afraid they’ll run over a child.

  4. To #2: The child was on the sidewalk. When a car goes into or out of a driveway, that car is on the SIDEWALK! That driver is the one who needs to be careful and go slow and watch out for children. That DRIVER needs to be SUPERVISED!

  5. yes, it’s true, children should wear helmets and learn to be safe – however, it would be a very good idea for everyone to back into driveways – you’re instinctively more careful backing in and can see much better going out – you just have to train yourself – you have nothing to lose

A very common expression of gratitude that we exclaim when great things happen or when we are spared of troubles.

  7. To been there
It’s the part of the sidewalk that the cars are allowed to be on. So I’m sorry but the children need to be supervised at the driveway entrances.
