My guess is that the Township is losing a fortune in revenue by not dedicating resources to issuing summonses. The police can always leave to handle a more serious crime. This video shows a double whammy, failing to stop at a crosswalk and passing on the right not to mention some other possible missed bonuses like cell-phone abuse, non-working brake lights, turn-signals. The Township’s recent public awareness campaign of some signs around town are commendable but are easy to ignore. Hefty fines and punishments are not. What are we waiting for? More toddlers and teens to be killed?
Couldn’t tell if it was to raise awareness or advertise for cso radio.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t shock me. I was at the same intersection a few nights ago when I stopped for a very old man that wanted to cross the street. He was moving very slowly, so I literally turned my car on an angle because I was afraid one of “those” drivers you saw in the above video would come along. Sick!
SILLY LAW!!
Just as with children; if a parent is too tired or has no patience to carry through with a demand, they should not demand it of the child.
If they do, The child will only learn how to catch the parent at their weak/tired moments and the results can be disastrous!
If the township can’t educate the public enough about this law or enforce it enough…… they should not have it as a law.
The results……. I’d rather not think what can G forbid happen.
What’s the cost of dash cam videos??
It’s a state law.
MOTORISTS in New Jersey MUST stop for pedestrians in a marked crosswalk. Failure to observe the law may subject you to one or more of the following:
2 POINTS
$200 FINE (plus court costs)
15 DAYS COMMUNITY SERVICE
INSURANCE SURCHARGES
NEW JERSEY STATUTE 39:4-36
Driver to stop for pedestrian: exceptions, violations. penalties.
A. The driver of a vehicle must stop and stay stopped for a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk, but shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, except at crosswalks when the movement of traffic is being regulated by police officers or traffic control signals, or where otherwise prohibited by municipal, county, or State regulation, and except where a pedestrian tunnel or overhead pedestrian crossing has been provided, but no pedestrian shall suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close that it is impossible for the driver to yield.

I wouldve thought the dashcam guy was stopped making a left without using blinker like so many in lkwd, and the other driver went around him, which seems pretty fine to me.
This type of incident frustrated me yesterday. I was driving down Clifton Ave and stopped for a teenager trying to cross with young siblings. I stopped for them, saw in my rear view mirror that the car behind me was going to go around me so I sat on my horn and moved my car to the right, to stop the car behind me from going around. Next I notice a car that was sitting at the side street stop sign and see that he has the chutzpah to turn right as this girl is crossing. Did he think that I stopped to allow him to turn? Or would he even consider the idea that the traffic stopped to allow people to cross safely? Drivers are very impatient, selfish and inconsiderate. I think it’s as simple as that!
a yid says: “I wouldve thought the dashcam guy was stopped making a left without using blinker like so many in lkwd, and the other driver went around him, which seems pretty fine to me.”
Thanks for allowing this post. Proves my point about Lakewood drivers. Yid, you should be ashamed to use that name. Do every one a huge favor: stop thinking, park your car immediately, get out of it and lose the keys. The life you save may be someone else’s.
I use my hazards when allowing people to cross
Takes a second, and warns others
I have no problem with the video. The pedestrian was never in danger.
“Yid” get a life
Putting on flashers seems dumb to me. Tells the driver behind to please pass.
Lol
They are called Hazard Lights, not “flashers/please pass in the shoulder of the road”
to anon
The pedestrian was in near danger.A few seconds off hashem yerachem!
A few seconds off & maybe he wouldn’t have done it. Maybe the driver knew what you know.
