By: C.B. A Lakewood Police officer went above and beyond the call of duty on Wednesday morning, alleviating one local resident’s great worry and anxiety.
Mrs. S’s story began when she sent a sealed envelope with some confidential information, including a credit card number, with a relative for delivery. Somewhere along his route, the relative misplaced the sensitive envelope, and you can imagine Mrs. S.’s panic. Thoughts of identity theft, canceling credit cards before she would be wiped out and a day spent mitigating the damage wrought by her envelope falling into the wrong hands raced through her mind.
Her fears were put to rest however, when Officer Rob Meyer knocked on her door later that morning. Responding to a call, he happened to have noticed the envelope sitting on the ground. Because Mrs. S’s name and address were written on the outside, he didn’t have to open the envelope to be able to return it to its anxious owner.
Without wasting a moment, knowing that the contents of the envelope may be important to its owner, the dedicated police officer made a personal house call to return it.
“Officer Meyer is a true testament to the incredible character of our police force,” says Mrs. S. “He was a true mentch, showing concern for the details of all community members’ lives. Lakewood is truly lucky to have such a dedicated police force, with officers like Officer Meyer serving our community.”

Way to go ! Amazing police force
Rob is a real mentch! One of Lakewood’s finest Officers!
So proud of my hero!!
This town is trully blessed to have a police department with such caring and good natured police officers on its force. Police Officer Rob Meyer for one…..and without a doubt there are many others in the department. Only last week the Scoop ran the remarkable story about Police Officer Erik Menck that went out of his way to make a little child happy.
And it starts at the top; with our Police Chief Rob Lawson who has the admiration and appreciation of so many in this town for his acts of kindness and sensitivity to all the communties in this town. I saw him making the rounds on both first and second days of Pesach as he made his way to a few private homes that needed his assistance.
What a great man. We are blessed to have him serving us
I’m not surprised coming from Rob. It is so like him.
