Temperatures and wind gusts will create an elevated risk of wildfires today, the National Weather Service says.
“Low relative humidity values dropping into the low 20s to upper teens this afternoon, along with winds gusting around 20 mph and drying fuels will create an elevated risk for fire spread this afternoon,” the Service said.
Earlier this week, smoke – reportedly from a forest fire, was seen in the area of Route 70 in Lakewood, though it was reportedly coming from another Township.

It’s the low humidity and wind that is the problem, not the temperature.
