PHOTO: New Traffic Lights Installed at Lakewood-New Egypt and Hillside

lkwd new egyptThe County this week completed the installation of traffic lights at the intersection of Lakewood-New Egypt Road and Hillside Boulevard – outside on the Westgate entrances.

A Township resolution to install these lights were passed in 2013, as reported on TLS at the time.

The lights are expected to alleviate traffic and prevent further accidents at the heavily-traveled intersection.

The lights are expected to go into operation in the coming days.

  1. I hope they sync it with the light at E Vets & Cross St that is only 2000 ft west of that intersection because it will be a traffic nightmare if they dont.

  2. Thank goodness this traffic light has been installed. Hopefully it will alleviate the speeders who zoom down the road above the speed limit. Plus the residents of West Gate should be able to get on the highway safely. However the residents of West Gate should still be cautious when exiting the development. It will take some time for drivers to get used to having to stop for the new traffic light.

  3. A perfect scenario where the developer should be responsible for this installation, no different than paying to pave the roads in Westgate (if they ever will get paved).

  4. We can use an actual traffic light for crossing Hillside Blvd in Westgate or at least additional stop signs. It is extremely difficult and dangerous to cross over to the shopping center when most of the cars completely ignore the 25 mile speed limit.
