  1. I think it is time for a new “Lakewood type” of town to start. There is much undeveloped land in many other States that would cost a fraction of the price and property tax would also be much less. The initial infrastructure of Yeshivos, Kosher Food etc. would be the biggest obstacle. However if a few gevirim get together and want to do a massive chesed for the general public by starting a Yeshiva, girl school and invest in a large kosher grocery store, their schar would be tremendous.

  2. i have not borrowed money to get into debt by purchasing a house i could not afford. Unfortunately the prices in Lakewood keep on going up and up and up. For many reasons. 1) the foreclosure of homes are controlled by a few who purchase most of the properties. and then resell it at a tremendous profit – the individual trying to get these properties on foreclosure have almost no chance. 2) Lakewood TWP has allowed for DUPLEX style homes to be built on what should be single family homes. This has spiked the price of normal single family homes. The TWP is not foreseeing the social disaster it has created by cramping so many families and people ( 4 families if you count the basements) for what is made to house 1 family. let snot forget we have large size families) 3) influx of people from Brooklyn who think they are getting a great deal as its less expensive then Brooklyn. Yet they dont realize the cheap construction, high real estate tax here in NJ and lack of Jobs to support such high mortgages/rent. That means someone is commuting to NYC to find a job at a cost of $800 a month and 4 hours on the road every day.

Lakewood was originally made for kollel life. which kollel person can truly afford to live here.
