Alleged Lakewood Dog Hoarder faces Criminal Charges

dogs found in homeThe woman accused of keeping dozens of dogs in a filth-riddled house in Lakewood is facing criminal charges.

According to a report on WOBM, complaints were filed May 22 against Laura Giancini, 50, of Spruce Street, according to NJSPCA President Captain Rick Yocum, through agency spokesman Matt Stanton. She’s charged with failing to provide a living creature with necessary care.

New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals oversaw the removal of the dogs.

  1. Is there proof she was training them as fighting dogs?? I haven’t heard anything about that. There’s a huge difference between hoarding dogs/animals and obtaining them for the purposes of dog fighting.

  2. Being a hoarder is a sickness. Most times they are trying to help these animals; unfortunately, this doesn’t. They become over burdened. These dogs, husky’s border collies, etc. are not fighting dogs. These types of dogs are not for fighting; however, sometimes when they are “dog napped,” are often used for bait. Horrible. She may have had good intentions. Don’t know yet.
