The Lakewood Fire Department over the weekend battled two structure fires – one which left several families displaced, officials tell TLS.
The first fire occurred at about 12:45 PM Saturday afternoon on Martin Luther King Drive, where firefighters found smoke billowing from an apartment.
The apartment building was evacuated as the fire was brought under control.
By the time it was over, six apartments were severely damaged, officials say.
Nobody was injured, and the Red Cross was called into assist with the displaced families.
Just hours later, at about 5:45 PM, the fire department responded to Ronald Road where a garage caught fire, setting multiple vehicles on fire.
Nobody was injured, but four vehicles were burned in the blaze, officials say.
Both fires are under investigation.
