Approximately 100 ill children today received a trip of a lifetime with a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida for one day.

Sunshine Foundation’s All Volunteer Mercer County Chapter charted the Foundation’s 94th Dreamlift out of the Trenton Mercer Airport (National Guard Aviation Facility).

The Dreamlift is a unique opportunity that gives children with illness some much needed hope and allows them to forget about their challenges. Each child receives airfare, theme park ticket, meals and a souvenir to remember their trip courtesy of Sunshine Foundation.

Very excited school children began arriving by bus at 5:30 a.m. Community officials, marching bands, mascots and characters greeted the children and celebrate the special day before they boarded the plane. State and local police officers assisted the children, physically lifting some on and off the plane.

The plane will return at 10:20 p.m. tonight.

The children are from low income families and for many is the first time they travel on a plane and get to experience a magical place like Disney World.

Sunshine Foundation is a 37-year-old charitable organization with a mission to answer the dreams of chronically ill, seriously ill, physically challenged and abused children ages three to 18 of low income families.
