EXCLUSIVE: Possible Para Aduma Becomes Pasul after Giving Birth; “It’s a Message from Hashem” (VIDEO & PHOTOS)

para aduma 1The possible Para Aduma (Red Heffer), which gained international attention after we first reported about it in January, has become Pasul after it gave birth, TLS has learned.

The cow gave birth to a black calf around 8:00 AM Wednesday morning, just a couple months after its second birthday.

“We had no idea it was even pregnant,” Herb Celler tells TLS in an exclusive interview. “It had to have become pregnant when it was about a year and a half – it’s very unusual.” Celler says a veterinarian he spoke to was shocked too.

In May, Hagaon Rav Dovid Feinstein visited the cow, though did not give his Psak as to whether it was actually eligible for a Para Aduma.

Though he’s distraught about it, Celler says perhaps this is a message from Hashem.

“Maybe this is a sign from Hashem saying my people are not ready yet,” Celler says. “It goes to show one thing, I’m here for you, but you’re not ready for me.”

Over the past few months, approximately 37,000 people from around the country visited the cow. In fact just a few days ago, Celler was contacted by a Florida resident who was to fly in just to see the animal, but yesterday was given the bad news.

Celler says he was offered $1,000,000 for the cow, but he refused to sell it, because “it’s not about the money.”

Both Celler’s parents are Holocaust survivors, and he was hoping perhaps this was a sign from Hashem that the final redemption was near.

  3. I would just like to give in the name of many of us here in Lakewood and in the name of many all across this great land a big thank you to Mr. Herb Celler. Over the many months Herb has showed tremendous enthusiasm about having a potential Para Aduma …..and while it was not to be, still is enthusiasm is not wasted and it had a great impact on all of us and motivated us to know more about the concept of Para Aduma and it also had people talking about Moshiach which is what we should be doing. So ultimately a lot of good came out of this story. Herb may this be a zechus for you.
