  1. Mamesh a tragedy. Yoni was such a tzaddik. He was a hashgacha expert known throughout the food industry. I occasionally went to the same daf yomi shiur that the nifter went to, R’ Shimon Prag’s evening shiur in Coventry. Yoni knew Shas, cold. Period. He used to prepare w / R’ shlome Chaim Kanarek in the morning, then do it again at night. This last siyum HaShas was his 5th. Maybe even his 6th. He claimed he didnt know. Aside for this, when his friends made weddings or when Yom Tov came along, he raised money for them. This was a special, special person. I visited him last week. Nebech. But I still thought, he’ll pull it off and walk out. Sadly, I was wrong. TNTB”H.

  2. what a special tzaddik he was, never missed a minyan at weinsteins or a day of daf yomi. i could write a book about him…

may his neshama have an aliya

  3. Boruch Dayan Haemes. Yoni Z”L was a person that no matter what situation he was in was always Bisimcha. He had a real simchas Hachaim and ahavas yisroel which was a direct outshine of his Torah and Midos Tovos.
May he be a Mailitz Yosher for his Mishpacha and all of us.

  4. BDE. Words are difficult to come by. Reb Yoni was a true Ben Torah and Aliya. He was extremely well-liked and respected by his colleagues and peers.

Though his actions and interactions with others, we saw how one can be mekadesh Hashem during our lifetime

He was constantly shteiging and elevating himself. He was an ohev Es habriyos and, by his actions, he was mekarev Es habriyos l’Torah.

May the Rebono Shel Olam give koach and nechama to his chashuva father, Hagoan, Hatzadik Rav Yosef Meir Hacohen and his choshuveh mother, Rebbitzen Kantor (nee Hess) and to all Yoni’s siblings, family and friends.

May Tu B’av, hopefully turn today into the biggest Yom Tov that we are all waiting for.

  5. returning from the levaya and still numb from this terrible tragedy i write, though words cant suffice
chigru chigru sak, chaval chaval ,lakewood and the world lost a diamond neshoma . yonee ztl was a gevaldik talmud chochom and bokee yet blamed all his bekius to quote him as he called the rishonim and achronim “the noise from the boys”

yonee ztl was one of the hidden gems of lkwd but acted as a regular geshmaka guy he will be sorely missed by his many close yedidim and chaverim
