  1. it is not always a yes or no question. It will depend on the cost, how many children does the family need to pay for, how far is the school, etc.

  2. Do the math 5.5 million divided by 10000 its cheaper to pay for private bussing unless your landlord doesn’t pay property tax (property tax affects rent prices) and besides if not for the 2 % cap they would not work as hard to bringing the cost only to 5.5 million

  3. Really…hit me where it hurts! I have to pay for bussing so I can get to work on time, to make enough money to cover my taxes, to pay for the educational services im not even receiving!

  4. To Really @11:30
Why not add all other tax funded programs that many of us don’t receive even if we want to because we don’t qualify, such as Wic, Hud, Medicare, NJ Care, Federal tree and reduced lunch program etc..
Educational services happens to be a service that is open to all regardless of your income level. Also, many taxpayers in Lakewood do take advantage of the educational services made available through the local Board of Education such as – special education,
supplemental education, nurse/aid, nursing supplies, home instruction, self contained classes, shadows,.
It’s not all about courtesy transportation.

  5. we all have what we are suppose to have so everyone should relax. going through life without any expectations will make you happy with anything you get for free or at reduced rate. but the middle class is clearly hit the hardest as always.

  6. It’s all depends.. How much its will cost ? , when each school will have starting time … It’s would be much easier if I do have to drive my kids ( I have 4 different schools to go to) so its should be procsimitly the same time. In reality one of my kids probably will be late, with all the traffic. Anyway ,but on the way home its a problem because I am at work and my husband is not available. So do I have a choice? I would have to come with some solution, how to get kids home.( consider the fact that it’s will be different timing when each one finnish ) and on my kollel budget it’s not an easy dicition to make. May be schools should take this in consideration, starting and finishing the same time….and for sure no shacharis in yeshivas, I simply can’t get out in the morning with all my kids to drive my bochurim. Any ideas anyone?

  7. I would pay privately. I guarantee the cost would be half of what it is now. How many people are getting sweet deals for bussing contracts etc. When we pay privately we will get a better deal.

  8. FYI all you people who think” no problem ill pay private bussing” , if you think your taxes are not going to go up either way then your sadly mistaken. You will look back in year from now and you will be paying private and your taxes will be up. Welcome to Lakewood

  9. In the short time we have purchased our home taxes have gone up significantly. When we were looking into buying a home we calculated how much the mortgage would be each month.. We did not expect taxes to increase so drastically each year. They don’t want to pay for busing, don’t, but then stop raising my taxes. And for those people who say it is a “courtesy” or “we’ll pay for private” or “here come the complainers…” I will assume that this does not affect you as strongly as some other people. But please understand that for many of us who are working hard at our jobs and struggling to meet rising tax rates this is really frustrating.

  10. Stop paying taxes. Where is our tax money going????????

Lets all enroll our children in public school like they did in Monroe. The problem is we let THEM run our lives…
