Trump tops CNN poll of 2016 Republicans, says he leads ‘movement’

trump tlsReal estate magnate Donald Trump moved to the top of the 2016 Republican presidential field in a CNN poll released on Sunday, edging out rival Jeb Bush and gaining support from Republicans in the last month despite a series of controversial statements.

Trump was backed by 18 percent of Republicans in the CNN poll, which was conducted entirely after his July 18 criticism of Republican Senator John McCain’s war record. His lead over Bush, a former Florida governor who was at 15 percent, was within the poll’s margin of error.

“There is a movement going on. This is more than me,” Trump said on CNN’s “State of the Union,” saying the poll results were not surprising. “People are tired of these incompetent politicians in Washington that can’t get anything done.” Read more in Yahoo.

  1. The only advice I would give to ‘the Donald’ is that it’s not going to last too long so enjoy it while you can. He’s not the going to become the nominee, much less president and he knows that like everyone else does. The other advice I would give is to the Republican party in that if they want to have a serious chance at the White House they should unite behind 2 or 3 top tier candidates instead of looking like a dysfunctional party. Most these guys don’t have a chance in getting the nod and while I understand they want some attention, but it’s at the expense of their party. Most of these guys running do have good intentions but need to see the realities and that is that unless the party unites it’s going to be a joke now as Mr Trump gains traction and a bigger joke come the general election when they lose to whomever is their nominee…and I’m not convinced it’s going to be Hillary.

  3. Trump wants to be a spoiler. The Republican’s must narrow their field to have any impact on the next presidential election and get behind an electable candidate. If not they are just handing the election over to the Democrats.
