The recent burglaries which have occurred in Lakewood in the past few weeks have topped $1,000,000, Detective Sergeant Greg Staffordsmith confirms to TLS.
The recent string of burglaries, many of which were forced entry, are possibly the work of the same burglar or burglars, as earlier reported.
At least three of the recent burglaries took placeā over the weekend, and carried similar characteristics. Many of the apparently-targeted homes had their security cameras and electriity ripped out.
Valuables stolen include cash, jewelry, paintings and even a Sefer Torah.
TLS has also learned that security has been stepped up in certain areas around town.

That’s why I keep everything in the bank /safe.
Or you have the right to have a weapon at home (legally of course) to protect your home and your loved ones
@why
I thought for the most part b’h the houses were empty.
You talk about a gun? You better know how to store it and use it. Shooting a person @2am in a startled frame of shock, you’ll lose. It’s a whole different league. Oh BTW, when a shooting does occur who do you thinks cleans up the entire mess?
A $1,000,000 over one weekend ?! Wow. I don’t make that in 2 yrs, almost. I must be in the wrong business.
Jog a thon wow it takes you just 2 years to make 1,000,000? That takes me more than 20 year. I must really in the wrong business
Jog a thon if your making over 500k a year I want to know how I can do that
@why–the houses were empty–so the burglars not only have your valuables but your gun
You know something? I was wondering about that amount, too! Until I woke up this morning and my neighbor’s house was gone! I mean like, completely gone! Nothing but a gaping hole in the ground. A cool half-a-mil, jacked up to a trailer and whisked away in the dead of the night. What has this planet come to…
A sefer torah is worth 500K. Half that is the total value of combined burglarized homes in an area that clearly was targeted due to the knowledge these homes had assets to steal (appearance or size of house, or someone who knew something about those homes).
