Seven Hospitalized following Early-morning Crash

Photo Collage Maker_H2o9cw_wmPHOTOS: An early-morning crash sent seven people to the hospital, officials said.‎

The two-car crash happened around 2 AM at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Pine Street.

Over a dozen emergency responders and multiple ambulances from EMS and Lakewood First Aid responded to the scene.

At least one person was in and out of consciousness, and suffered severe injuries.

Six of the patients were transported to MMCSC, and one to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Officials say both vehicles contained people coming from a local party, though there didn’t appear to be alcohol involved.

However, a short time later, a resident spotted a vehicle driving on the opposite side of an area road and without its headlights on, and phoned police.

Police arrived moments later and located the driver‎. He was subsequently arrested for DUI, an official said.
