Two Bachurim Assaulted, Robbed on Friday Night; Suspects Apprehended

hatz rig tlsTwo Bachurim were assaulted and robbed in Lakewood last night, TLS has learned.

The boys were walking in the area of East 5th Street around 11 PM when they were approached by two black males, one of whom assaulted one of the Bachurim and knocking him to the ground, police confirm.

A female, who was accompanying the males then grabbed the Bachur’s hat and Yarmulka and fled the area.

A neighbor who heard the boys screaming immediately called Hatzolah. One of the boys was treated for minor injuries.

A short time later, the wife of a Hatzolah member spotted the two alleged suspects running in the area and notified Hatzolah’s Shabbos Goy who was searching the area. While keeping watch of the suspects, the Shabbos Goy notified police, who responded moments later and located the suspects in the area of Holly Street. The stolen hat and Yarmulka were located nearby.

The positively-identified suspects were subsequently arrested and taken into custody. One of them was charged with Simple Assault, police said.

  1. Thank G-d the boys were not seriously injured. Am I to understand from the article that the police were not called immediately? And when the suspects were seen, the police were not notified by the person who saw them, but rather a call was made to someone else and then the police were called? I certainly hope this was not the case.

  2. Now is a good time to voice much appreciation for what the “Shabbos Goyim” do selflessly each and every week. They are constantly helping people way above the call of duty.

  3. Raboysy tefilla were forgetting the whole point of this is to awaken klalyisroel goyim don’t like us forget the ” we need security” we need tefila it’s essential

  4. My Dear Kloes,

If in your mind, an attack on two people by at least two other people, who in fact did bodily harm to them, and who could just as easily have had a guns or knives on them, is not considered “sakonos nefoshes”, then I can’t imagine what is. By definition, it was; After all, Hatzalah was called ON SHABBOS. So at the least, it was sofek sakonoh. So if you think that letting these people loose around the neighborhood, without alerting the police seems appropriate to you, then I say that you are not being considerate of anyone else that could have been attacked by these people.

  5. Not so fast, Mattes. It would depend on alot of things if I was to call police on Shabbos. If the perps run away & there’s no way the cops will find them, I don’t see a heter to call them. In this story, they called Hatzolah to treat the injury. And just BTW, Stevie rocks !! And I’m proud to be his friend.

  6. jogger, they caught the perps, so their goes your theory on when to call the police. i hope my neighborhood never needs you to call for assistance on Shabbos.

  7. Hatzalah was called because the immediate emergency was the well being of the young men. Many thanks to Stevie who stepped in as part of Hatzalah and called the police.

  8. Stevie is a great help to anyone who needs assistance. He is 24/7 part of LCSW. He also goes well beyond the call of duty on Shabbos & Yomtov while working for Hatzolah.
