With great Shevach and Hodaah to Hashem Yisbaruch, Daf Hashovua celebrated the Siyum of Meseches Yoma during the Aseres Ymay Teshuva. The Siyum took place at Bais Torah Utefilah in Passaic, NJ.
The Siyum featured an inspiring Drasha presented by HaRav Elya Brudny, Shlita, Rosh Yeshiva, Yeshivas Mir on inyanei d’yoma. He spoke about the added dimension in learning of Shimushay Talmiday Chachamim that the Daf Hashovua provides. The opportunity to be involved in dialogue and discussion of the Daf that goes beyond simply learning and comprehending the Daf. Shimushay Talmidai Chachamim facilitates growth, not only in learning, but also in Midos Tovos and as a Ben-Torah.
Rav Brudny’s inspiring Drasha was followed by a moving Siyum with over 100 Misaymim.
After a spirited Rikud, the crowd was treated to an elegant Seudah L’kavod the Simcha. During the Seudah, Rav Shachne Weinberger was honored with the Haschalah of the Meseches Sukka.
Also during the Seudah, the audience was further inspired by Divrei Chizuk by Rabbi Dovid Neuman, from Harav Nah. He regaled the crowd with amazing stories of the power of Chazarah and the tremendous Simcha and dedication teenage Bochrim have achieved when they truly “own” the Daf. Emphasis on Chazarah is an important feature of the Daf Hashovua program as well.
Daf HaShovua, also known as Daf-A-Week, is a worldwide program that studies, in depth, a Daf each week following the same Seder as the Daf Yomi. Participants in this program devote the same hour of daily learning as the Dafi Yomi learner, but rather than focusing on a daily Daf, they concentrate all week to fully master a weekly Daf. It has become a popular alternative for those who would rather learn at a slower pace, but in greater Iyun and with more Chazarah, than the Daf Yomi schedule allows. At the same time, Daf HaShovua retains the same feeling of Achdus and being part of a world-wide Klal that has made the Daf Yomi program so effective.
The program has been growing by leaps and bounds worldwide with Shiurim, Chaburos, Chavurusa learning in cities throughout the world. Participants are encouraged to take weekly Bechinos that are marked and financial incentives are available for those who successfully complete the Bechinas.
