Township Introduces Resolution to Extend Property Reassessment by One Year

tax assessor and asDuring Thursday’s meeting, the Township Committee introduced a resolution to extend the tax reassessment contract by one year.

The reason for this, says Tax Assessor Edward Seeger, “is due to the late approval from the State Division of Taxation (approval was granted mid-June). By not being able to start the process until that time, there just is not enough time to do a proper job for tax year 2016.”

This extension will allow for a more accurate reassessment in the end, Seeger says.

  1. @j: I have a 1540 sq ft builder’s home and I pay $8000. After 40 years I am selling and moving to Florida. Taxes on my new FL home are $1370 per year.

  2. Ridiculous. I have to put $155.00 EVERY SINGLE WEEK from my paycheck for property taxes. Do you know what that does to me? It kills me. My dear wife took on a SECOND job to make up for it. And my house is a small house. Totally crazy. WHERE’S ALL THE MONEY?

  3. I have a 1200 sq foot coventry townhouse with no basement , attached on both sides and 2.5 bedrooms and I’m almost at five grand ! Where I the money going ?!

  4. Property taxes keep on going up every year, it’s astronomical!
Something doesn’t make sense, it just doesn’t add up!!!
We as community have to do something, as it is prices to purchase a house are going up!!!
This has to stop, it’s not affordable, real estate agents can try to sugar coat it as much as possible but they’re ultimately lying.
